Ethiopia’s wealth of historic sites and an identity defined by its own history and diverse cultures rather than by colonialism is what distinguishes it from most other African destinations.
Ethiopia’s history encompasses legend and tradition, mystery and fact, from a powerful and religious ancient civilization. Legend has it that Emperor Menelik, son of the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon, brought the Ark of the Covenant from JERUSALEM to AXUM where he established one of the world’s longest known, uninterrupted monarchical dynasties. Therefore, the following 10days, fascinating historic route tour covers the legendary fall of Blue Nile, ancient lake monasteries & rock-hewn churches which will make us pass through a magnificent scenic world of fairy-tale names such as BAHIR DAR, GONDAR, AXUM, LALIBELA, ARBAMINCH, JINKA, HAMMER and TURMI which every destination contributes in highlighting the country in the form of strange landscapes, beautiful churches, unbelievable cultures and stone writings.
Day 01: ARRIVAL AND HALF DAY CITY TOUR OF ADDIS ABABA
Up on arrival at Bole international airport, be met by our representative and transferred to a hotel. After check in to a hotel, depending on the arrival time a half day city tour in Addis Ababa including National & ethnographic museum, Trinity church and the panoramic view of Entoto Mariam mountain. Day 02: ADDIS ABABA TO BAHIRDAR
Take early flight to Bahir Dar, and transfer to hotel .After check-in to the hotel take boat trip on Lake Tana to visit ancient monasteries .On lake Tana there are more than 35 islands and most of these islands hosts monasteries, today you will visit the island monasteries of Ura Kidane Mihret & Azua Mariam . You will also discover the sources of Blue Nile on Lake Tana. Afternoon after lunch break drive about 32kms to visit & admire the Blue Nile falls commonly known as “Tis Isat” (smoking water). The Blue Nile Falls offer a spectacular view of the falls cascading down 45 meters (150 feet), across a stretch of river some 400 meters wide. An intense stream of vapor - almost a fog - surrounds the waterfall and anyone within a Kilometer distance can feel the impact of the moisture. After visit drive back to Bahir Dar on the way observe the rural farm lands, people and local markets.

Day 03: DRIVE BAHIRDAR-GONDAR
Morning after breakfast drive 178 km to Gondar, one of the hidden cities of the foreign trade and Ethiopian Capital city in the 17th century AD. On the way visit Guzara ruined palaces and beautiful landscapes.Gondar is the site of ancient castle building palaces of different emperors constructed in the European middle age architectural style. After check-in to hotel visit the curious symbiosis of Ethiopian and Portuguese architectural representation of the royal enclosure which is also known as” the Camelot of Africa”, the iconic church of Debre Birehan Selassie, bath of king Fasilledes which still in use for the colorful celebration of Ethiopian epiphany (Timket). Day 04:GONDAR-LALIBELA
Fly to Lalibela which is one of the legendary cities and leading tourist sites of Ethiopia and transfer to your hotel. After check and lunch break visit the rock-hewn churches, according to the geographical location; including the largest Bet Medahinialem (savior of the world) and Beta Mariam (house of Mary) the first church build by King Lalibela ,the famous Bete Giorgis Church, Bete Amanuel, Bete Gebriel-Rufael, Abalibanos and Bete Markos. Day 05:LALIBELA –ADDIS ABABA –ARBAMINCH
After having breakfast, transfer to airport and take flight back to Addis Ababa and connect Arbaminch flight. In the afternoon arrive at Arbaminch and check in to the lodge and take rest in the hotel.Meal:Breakfast & Dinner Overnight:Paradise Lodge/Morahit Lodge
Day 06:ARBAMINCH-CHAMO-KEYAFER-JINKA
Morning after breakfast take boat trip on Lake Chamo to explore hippos and large size crocodile’s at the crocodile market and drive to Key Afer and Jinka. If today is Thursday visit colorful Keyafer market which is attended by different tribes (Hamer, Bena, Ari and Tsemai) .On the way SEIGHTSEING VISIT of different tribes and their villages. Then proceed to Jinka for your overnight stay.

Day 07:JINKA-MAGO/MURSI-TURMI
On this day you will drive to Mago National park & make an excursion tour to see and appreciate the very attractive culture of Mursi tribe. They are renowned for the strange custom pursued by their women, who on reaching maturity, have their lower lips pierced and pop in a “terra cotta” (circular clay disc). After visit proceed to Turmi and late in the afternoon visit Hammer Village at Turmi. Overnight Turmi Lodge Meal:Breakfast & Dinner:Overnight:Buska/Turmi Lodge
Day 08:TURMI- KARO –DIMEKA- TURMI
Early morning drive about 65kms for a half day excursion to Murelle. Here one can visit the Karo ethnic groups, experts in body painting; have your lunch on the way from your lunch-box (Sandwich) or in a very local hotel @Dimeka. If Today is Thursday or Tuesday in the afternoon attend Dimeka Market and appreciate different tribes (Hamer, Benna, Karo, etc), at about 17:00, drive Back to Turmi and if you are lucky in the evening visit the night dancing of Hamer people (Evangadi).

Day 09:TURMI-ARBAMINCH
Early Morning drive to Arbaminch and on the way visit Weyto tribal village, then continue driving to Arbaminch and check in to the Lodge. This afternoon you will visit Dorze village situated in the highlands, 2900masl. The Dorze people are known for their tall beehive-like houses and their fine cotton weaving. You will visit the village and learn about the daily lives of these industrious people. Then drive to Arbaminch for overnight stay.Meal:Breakfast & Dinner:Overnight: PARADISE Lodge/Morahit Lodge.
Day 10: FLY BACK TO ADDIS ABABA
Depending on the flight schedule morning after breakfast take short boat trip on Lake Chamo to see hippos, large size crocodiles (Crocodile market) and transfer to Arbaminch airport for your flight back to Addis .In Addis Ababa, enjoy the last minute shopping and at the evening you will be Omo Tours guest and enjoy a farewell dinner in one of the famous Ethiopian traditional restaurant and attend traditional dance and cultural music .Then transfer out to the airport for your departure back home.
